It's the time of the year again to visit the mega pasar malam (night market)! Of course, I was excited to try the highly-raved flavoured Churros and Rolled Ice Cream this year!
There are 500+ stores this year and of course I took a very long time to roam around! Tornado Potato, the Korean street food is one of my favourites and I bought one for $2.50! Sprinkled with cheese and chilli powder- mhmn.
So, who has heard about the Thai-inspired Rolled Ice Cream? The ones we often see in Facebook videos! I've read that the queue was very long for the past few days, but decided to try my luck. And guess what - I was super lucky! I arrived 10 minutes before Happy Rollies' operating time and I only had to queue for about 5 minutes as I was one of the first few customers! (3rd one I guess!) Even when I've yet to get my hands on this highly-raved ice cream, the queue behind me was ... incredibly long. I could not even see the last dude in the queue! How lucky was I!
One can choose a single flavour or two - which I chose Oreo and Lychee as my bases!
For those who have never seen this before, it's a base like milk or cream mixed together on an icy platform, chopped with ingredients of your choice, then flattened and rolled!
Sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles and drizzled with chocolate sauce, I received my cup of Happy Rollies ($5) as I watched eyes of envy locked on my cup of happiness. What an interesting combination, Lychee and Oreo! Refreshing yet milky at times! (Thanks Dad for being my hand model!)
Now here's the other popular store this year - Bakes and Craft with flavoured Churros! Got mine in Pandan , coated with sugar and drizzled with a generous amount of Gula Melaka sauce ($5). SG50, let's take this Spanish snack on a local twist! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside - I'm one happy soul. They had the Red Velvet flavour too, but me being pretty adventurous, I decided to try this one and did not regret!
Who's craving for this mouth-watering, wrapped in a wrap with cheese and chilli sauce, sprinkled with lettuce Chicken Kebab? ($4 for 1; $10 for 3) I often see this in pasar malams, and they always taste so good. Smells equally good too!
Wanted to try a Ramily burger, but was too stuffed :(
Oh, there are just way too many things to eat!
Other than munching on food, Mum bought a carpet too!
Ended my trip to Geylang Serai with a cup of Iced Thai Milk Tea! Was disappointed because I couldn't find favourite grilled sotong (I'm not even sure if I combed through all 500+ stores in my 3 hours there, but it was surely a foodful one!)
Selemat Hari Raya to all my friends! Till next year, Geylang Serai! (:
